Why is it that given a choice between 2 religions, we go with the 1 that liberates our flesh and imprisons our soul (conscience); When our flesh is the problem (original sin) and the Holy Spirit is our only Salvation? Therefore, when cultural attrition (social circumstances) lower our morals, but Christian Fundamentalists refuse to reform, society adapts by inventing a replacement (prosperity religion). Consequently, the government is obliged to defend the new fake religion, for it to prosper (1st Amendment). This government endorsement inadvertently degrades the standing of the older orthodox church. The danger in this, is that separation of church and state becomes a myth, because the government has for all practical purposes become the virtual mother church. Tragically, that’s why faith is waning among our young adults, because there’s really no difference between religion and government, when they’re both man-made. Case in point: christian nationalism is a straw religion that replaces authentic Biblical teachings with conservative hearsay (ideology).

“If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself… Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.” Bible, 1 Timothy 2:3,5,17-21
“Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. Words like Jewish and non-Jewish, religious and irreligious, insider and outsider, civilized and uncouth, free and slave, mean nothing. From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.
So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other.” The Message, Colossians 3:10-15
