Christianity Is My Cause

Every cause has a purpose, and Christianity is my cause. Every cause has a symbol, and Jesus is my Symbol. “[I am] on His errand and need to stand with confidence and nobility in His mighty cause, knowing no matter the enormity of the ranks of the enemy, God is with [me]!”

The wall of faith is the biggest barrier that obstructs the path to Christ. How do mere mortals circumvent it? In my case, I am committed to the cause of Christianity. I’m not sure how or when I acquired my faith, but I am grateful to Jesus for His gift.

“I say emphatically that faith is not the power of positive thinking, although it is good to have a positive attitude. Faith is not the personal resolve that enables us to will some situation into being. Faith is a principle of power, of God’s power. We do not generate faith on our own; we do not act ourselves into faith, for it is a gift of God. Faith is a gift given by God to suit his purposes and bless the body of Christ, the church (1 Corinthians 12:9; Ephesians 2:8).

People act in faith when they act according to the will of God. I have faith or power to touch the hearts of men and woman with my testimony of a truth, only when I and the listener are prepared and readied for the delivery and receipt of the word.”

When Jesus asked his disciples, “You do not want to leave too, do you? Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God” (John 6:67-69).

“In moments of fear or doubt or troubling times, hold the ground you have already won, even if that ground is limited. When those moments [of doubt] come and issues surface, the resolution of which is not immediately forthcoming, hold fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional knowledge [reinforcements] comes. The size of your faith or the degree of your knowledge is not the issue—it is the integrity you demonstrate toward the faith you do have and the truth you already know. Let me be clear on this point: I am not asking you to pretend to faith you do not have. I am asking you to be true to the faith you do have. Sometimes we act as if an honest declaration of doubt is a higher manifestation of moral courage than is an honest declaration of faith. It is not!” [However it is inviting defeat, it is surrender, it is acknowledging that you are a fallen man and that Jesus can’t save you.]—Jeffrey R. Holland

Jesus the Christ is the Vine, while we are the branches. We can do nothing of ourselves except abide in Him and rely wholly upon His grace and tender mercies. (John 15:1-5) We abide in truth by looking to Him, who is the Truth. (John 14:6) We abide in truth, by doing truth— that is, by living truthfully. (John 3:21)

How Can Jesus Be the Only Way?

Commentary: I don’t talk to people about my faith anymore because I’ve seen how easily things can go off track when others get involved. I can’t answer their questions—not without delving into the details of my personal conversion story—because, on principle, I suppose the point is not to answer that question for anyone but for myself.

To justify it means letting someone else into my circle. It means I start dictating what works for me to someone else, and then I carry that on my conscience, too. To explain it means you’re trying to prove something, which is where I think we’ve gone so wrong with one another. And—if God is just some “invisible genie in the sky granting my every wish,” or a cause that occupies real estate in my mind for no reason—then that’s fine. I believe because I think it makes me a better person for the people around me. I’m better equipped to help them by being a better person than I am by convincing them that I am one.

Every cause has a purpose, and Christianity is my cause.” This means that, for the Christian, life and their actions are driven by a meaningful purpose rooted in their faith. Christianity is not just a religion, but a cause they deeply believe in—one that guides their values, decisions, and life mission.

Every cause has a symbol, and Jesus is my Symbol.” This explains that Jesus is more than a historical figure; He is the emblem of the believer’s faith, identity, and commitment. Jesus represents the core principles of Christianity—love, sacrifice, salvation—and serves as a personal Symbol of their devotion and spiritual focus.
