There once was a populist political party so bold,
Whose campaign promises glittered like gold;
But unprincipled men took the lead,
Turned democracy’s engine to greed,
Now the people’s voice is bought and sold.

Reflections on a Nation Betrayed
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall,” Proverbs 16:18
As I reflect on the recent events that have transpired in our country, I am reminded of the biblical warning against the dangers of idolatry and the corrupting influence of power — and how pride goes before destruction. It is clear that what we witnessed was a catastrophic failure of leadership and a betrayal of the very principles of democracy — beware of shepherds who scatter the flock. I grew up hearing those warnings, the kind of Sunday phrases that sit in the back of your mind like weather — predictable, easy to ignore until the sky opens. I thought they were metaphors for personal failings, not a blueprint for politics. I was wrong. These words now echo through the annals of history, warning us of the peril when leaders succumb to greed, hate, and unchecked authority.
“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:1
The Web of Deception and the Fall of Faith
It began when the Patriots, a passionate group of citizens, found themselves caught in a web of deception. Although they and their predecessors had lived in freedom for the past two and a half centuries, they were persuaded by populist propaganda that their liberties were under threat from their own liberal government. Gaslighted and manipulated, they began to question the very foundations of their once-unshakable faith in democracy and justice. Their trust eroded, replaced by fear and suspicion, setting the stage for chaos.
The Catalyst of Chaos: Refusal to Concede and the Self-Coup
I am still trying to process the devastating events that unfolded in our nation, particularly the catalyst that triggered the chaos and destabilized our civil society. The story began when the populist president, who had promised to “drain the swamp” in Washington, did not win reelection and refused to accept the results of a fair election, claiming voter fraud. His refusal to concede led to a failed self-coup, orchestrated and supported by his followers and condoned by his political allies. A majority of Supreme Court justices also refused to condemn his insurrection, turning a blind eye to the threat against democracy. This blatant disregard for the democratic process is a stark warning of how authority, when wielded without moral restraint, can distort perceptions and silence dissent. It created an environment where obedience to authority and conformity to the prevailing narrative became the norm — regardless of truth or justice.
The Erosion of Unity and the Rise of Division
The newly elected liberal president, who campaigned on a platform of unity and inclusion, condemned his predecessor’s actions and warned the nation that the former populist president was an enemy of democracy. But as the border crisis worsened, support for him eroded. Too many immigrants were crossing the border, and his efforts to pass immigration reform were met with resistance from the Speaker of the House, who did not allow Congress to vote on any new border legislation. The former seditious president had told the Speaker that he needed the border crisis to remain a wedge issue for his reelection. The self-serving majority in Congress was more interested in maintaining power than serving the people.
Campaigns of Fear and Division
“Absolute power does not corrupt absolutely, absolute power attracts the corruptible. Suspect any who seek it.” By: Frank Herbert
Eventually, the former populist president began campaigning for the next election by holding rallies that became breeding grounds for fear-mongering and division. He consistently promised his followers that if re-elected “there would be no amnesty,” that “anyone who is in the United States illegally is subject to deportation,” and that he would roll out the “largest mass deportation effort in history,” removing millions of undocumented immigrants residing in America. His supporters, driven by fear and conformity, believed they were defending their homeland. Rallies became spaces where propaganda replaced rational debate and obedience trumped conscience. He also used incendiary rhetoric reminiscent of fascist regimes from the 1930s and ’40s, stating that “immigrants were an invasion” who were “poisoning the blood of our country.” His supporters were convinced he was the only one who could protect their way of life and make America great again.
Misinformation, Fear, and the Descent into Dehumanization
Misinformation and fear-mongering — amplified by those seeking to maintain power — fueled suspicion and division. Citizens, eager to belong and protect their own, rallied behind this incendiary rhetoric, perceiving outsiders as threats to their bloodline and way of life. This collective fear led to a breakdown of moral boundaries: dehumanization took hold, and violence against perceived enemies became normalized. The false narrative of an “immigration crisis” was fabricated to justify extreme measures.
The False Crisis and Its Consequences
The bottom line is that the former populist president had fabricated an “immigration crisis” to seal the border — claiming that it was a national emergency and portraying migration as an “invasion,” which it was not and never had been. He continued to scapegoat immigrants as a false pretext to erode constitutional protections within the United States and to justify citizen surveillance, all while fueling fear and division that ultimately served to increase political gain for his authoritarian movement.
The Departure from Democracy and Rise of Authoritarianism
“If our democracy dies, the reason won’t be that Americans were too apathetic to save it; it will be that they voted it out of existence.” By: H. Scott Butler
The consequences of this inflammatory rhetoric were too devastating for the incumbent president to overcome. To improve his party’s chances of staying in power, he withdrew from his reelection campaign and allowed his vice president to run instead. Unfortunately, she lost the election.
On day one, the re-elected populist president signed an executive order to close the border and deport all undocumented immigrants residing in the country. His supporters took this as a license to report any Latino who appeared to be an illegal alien to the border patrol. The immigrant population panicked, hunted down by vigilantes, and turned over to border patrol. The president deployed the National Guard, creating a chilling atmosphere and harassing protesters and immigrant sympathizers to silence the First Amendment.
Systemic Failures and the Erosion of Justice
In order to explain why we have systemic racism and a culture of ethics violations within our institutions, we need to understand that all systems in government rely on people to do their jobs in good faith. All it takes is for one key player to cheat, and the system fails. No system is self-moderated, no matter how much we audit and try to regulate it; it is up to the civil servant to do his job to the best of his abilities. All the systemic problems we find are to be blamed on the people in power who are acting slick — not on the system. Blaming the culture is unconstitutional; an individual in that system who is unwilling to support it, is literally breaking his oath of office. This is why a democracy can’t survive without a free press — to force transparency of the government — so that if it is discovered that a corrupt public official is gaming the system, it can be brought to the citizens’ attention, so that the bad actor can be impeached by the checks and balances in place. This is why authoritarians always claim fake news, in order to cover up their acts of treason.
“Though liberty is established by law, we must be vigilant, for liberty to enslave us is always present under that same liberty. Our Constitution speaks of the ‘general welfare of the people’. Under that phrase all sorts of excesses can be employed by [authoritarian] tyrants — to make us bondmen.” By: Marcus Tullius Cicero
The Threat of Illiberal Democracy and Erosion of Checks and Balances
An Illiberal Democracy describes a governing system that hides its “nondemocratic practices behind formally democratic institutions and procedures”. In such regimes, leaders often ignore or bypass constitutional limits, gradually eroding checks and balances to concentrate power. This dangerous trajectory inevitably leads to autocracy, where true freedom and accountability are cancelled. This is exactly what authoritarians are guilty of — using the illusion of democracy to undermine its very foundations and push our nation toward authoritarian rule.
The Role of Police and Society’s Moral Breakdown
The police, once sworn to protect and serve, became complicit in this brutal immigrant manhunt — stopping and searching minorities without cause and conducting neighborhood sweeps. Societal pressure to conform and obey grew so intense that even those with moral reservations felt compelled to support or accept the regime’s actions. The Supreme Court allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, claiming that “if the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States, they promptly let the individual go.” But this was far from the reality many citizens experienced. Roadblocks, stop-and-frisk procedures, and rampant racial profiling became commonplace. Latino Americans were dragged, tackled, beaten, Tased, and shot by immigration agents. Some had their necks knelt on, others were held outside in the rain, and even pregnant women were detained by overzealous agents. The federal immigration agency transformed into a domestic terror organization driven by profit, political support, and huge incentives, violating constitutional rights and operating with impunity.
Inhumanity and the Dehumanization of Latinos
The inhumanity of bigots and tyrants is that they will never experience guilt or regret, about their desires superseding the needs of those whom they control or hold power over. They are not capable of feeling empathy or compassion for inferior beings. The immigrant community in America began an exodus to sanctuary states. However, when Congress’s majority found out, they proposed legislation to outlaw sanctuary cities, which the president signed into law. As chaos intensified, the government enacted draconian policies. It became impossible for millions of Latinos to go into hiding; if discovered, they faced arrest. Many had to hide during the day and come out at night. Thousands resorted to crime to find food and fuel because no one would hire them. It was also dangerous for Latino citizens to be out, as they could be falsely accused of being illegal aliens and stalked by vigilantes or arrested by police.
The Final Stage: Microchips and the Mark of the Beast
This chaos caused hundreds of businesses to close as immigrants left their jobs, increasing inflation because companies couldn’t find replacement workers. Eventually, the situation spiraled out of control, causing Latino members of Congress to run scared as their constituents threatened to primary them. Rampant crime, domestic terrorism, and police brutality became pervasive. Lawmakers held an emergency hearing to brainstorm solutions to calm the Latino community. They asked the Speaker of the House to help find a way to distinguish between Latino citizens and immigrants. The Speaker, a white evangelical, recalled that in the last days the Bible prophesied that people would receive a mark on their foreheads or hands. Since it would only be directed at Latinos, he thought it was justified, because it wouldn’t affect him or his family.
“Faith in God becomes an afterthought, when your mind is preoccupied with its own self preservation.”
What he proposed was almost laughable if it weren’t so diabolical. He suggested embedding some form of ID or microchip in their bodies — like those used on pets or livestock — so authorities could easily identify whether a Latino was a legal resident. This proposal was met with widespread condemnation from Latino Christian citizens; however, it was too late because the community was already in crisis. The populist president then signed a law requiring all Latino citizens to be tagged. The country launched a massive campaign to microchip all Latino citizens. But this was only the beginning; soon, they began tagging all white citizens who could prove they were not sympathizers or part of the resistance. Initially, only Black people were exempt, but eventually their oppression extended to them as well, resulting in discrimination for not having microchips. Many had to plead to be tagged because they were being denied opportunities afforded to those who swore allegiance to the majority party.
The Society Divided and the Dehumanized
“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark…” Revelation 13:16–17
The government’s propaganda led to the dehumanization of targeted populations, culminating in proposals for biometric identification — the “Patriot’s Badge” — embedded into their bodies like livestock tags to monitor and control them. Citizens, gripped by fear and a desire for self-preservation, rationalized these measures as necessary for security. Supporters and officials alike succumbed to collective obedience, believing they were safeguarding the nation — even as they sacrificed their own moral integrity. With the country gripped by suspicion and fear, many citizens abandoned their moral judgment, obediently participating in actions fueled by societal pressure and the desire for safety. Ordinary people, driven by anxiety, stopped questioning authority and supported measures that led to harassment, neighborhood sweeps, and unjust searches. Eventually, even the most devout citizens, in their desperation to survive, surrendered their moral resistance, accepting the “Patriot’s Badge” and supporting the regime’s authority. Those who refused faced ostracism, loss of rights, or worse. Society became sharply divided: those branded and monitored, living in constant fear of discovery; and others forced into hiding, always looking over their shoulders.
The Reckoning and a Warning to the Future
“Our future has a beginning, just like our past had an ending. Tragically what began was our tyranny and what ended was our democracy.”
The Speaker of the House realized too late that he had doomed America. When white evangelical citizens came to terms with the fact that they had forfeited their liberty to fascism, they tried to protest, but their authoritarian rulers, sycophants, and cronies threatened to report them as immigrant sympathizers to the National Guard. It was an act of futility because they had no political power left. Sadly, it was the Latino citizens who were first deceived into receiving the mark of the beast, thus fulfilling biblical prophecy. Accepting the mark of fascist ideology destined them to become wards of the state.
The Lasting Impact and Moral Reflection
“History has shown that fascist ideologies rarely learn the most crucial lesson: coexistence and collaboration. Instead of seeking common ground and understanding, they allow their propaganda to sow seeds of division and instability throughout the nation.”
The consequences of this policy are still being felt today. Citizens forced to receive the mark live in fear, knowing they are being monitored and controlled by their authoritarian government. Meanwhile, the remaining undocumented residents live in hiding, always looking over their shoulders, waiting to be discovered and arrested. In this process, collective obedience and conformity — fueled by propaganda, fear, and the suppression of dissent — transformed a once-free society into one of compliance and dehumanization. History teaches us how easily moral boundaries dissolve when individuals prioritize safety and conformity over justice and compassion. The consequences echo across time: a nation betrayed by its own citizens, marching blindly into tyranny.
A Cautionary Tale for Future Generations
For a government to facilitate the detainment of undesirable groups, it must suspend constitutional protections. But here’s the danger: can you trust them to lift martial law after they’ve completed the round-up, or will they use the pretense that it’s still not safe? History warns that once citizens surrender their civil rights, they rarely get them back.
“I don’t write my post-apocalyptic stories, because that’s what I think our future will become. I write them, so that you’ll know what future to avoid.” By: Ray Bradbury
As I look back on our past, I am compelled to issue a warning to future generations: do not repeat our mistakes. Do not let fear, propaganda, and pressure to conform override your moral judgment. Do not compromise your values and faith. Do not sacrifice your dignity or humanity for the illusion of safety or political power. Remember: your humanity makes you worthy of dignity and respect. Fight for a world where every person is treated equally, regardless of race, ethnicity, or immigration status. Strive to create a better world guided by wisdom, compassion, and justice. Only through moral courage, critical thinking, and compassion can we resist the forces that threaten to erode our freedoms. We must never forget the horrors of authoritarianism — so we won’t repeat them.
20 Pros And Cons Of Microchipping Humans
“When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents in the Los Angeles area to take race into consideration during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned. “If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.” But that is far from the reality many citizens have experienced. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on. They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear. At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them. One of those women had already had the door of her home blown off while Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem watched.” Excerpt from: We Found That More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents.

MAGA Republican’s “Path To Power”
Let’s talk about the right and left in America
Let’s talk about why I look left and expectations
“We’re being sold a story that mass arrests are what’s going to resolve our immigration issues, when in fact it’s comprehensive immigration reforms.” […] Under the next Trump administration, Hernandez expects to see echoes of Operation Wetback play out in a modern context. “I would expect to see roadblocks and a stop-and-frisk operation around immigration control, especially in the 100-mile zone” near the southern border, she said.”I expect racial profiling to be rampant. Back in ’54 it targeted Mexican immigrants, at this point I think it’s pretty clear that Black and Muslim migrants, in addition to Latinx migrants will be targeted.” Excerpt from: ‘Operation Wetback’: What Happened Last Time US Conducted Mass Deportations
How Trump’s Deportation Campaign Is Reshaping Small Town America
The Trump administration’s next target: naturalized US citizens
Worst Case Scenario: Sooner or later everybody ends up fighting the same battles. What’s really going on in the minds of the patriots, evangelicals and republicans is that they’re hoping that if they keep the MAGA movement going, they’ll eventually be able to eradicate the socialist democrats, black lives matter marxist, the minorities, immigrants, refugees and deviants who keep gaming government social programs, because the fear in their hearts has triggered hate mongering for whomever trump frames as unpatriotic. How will they do that? Extradition, segregation, re-education, there are too many citizens in prison, already, it’s impossible! Or are they hoping, for America to become a fascist nation by inciting the alt-right mob to start a campaign of domestic terrorism? But there’s a drawback, to this diabolical plan, because when martial law kicks in the door, you can kiss all your constitutional protections goodbye. I repeat, if you or the police state mess up, there’s no civil rights defense!
For a government, to facilitate the detainment of undesirable groups, it has to suspend the constitutional protections of the infected community. But here’s the danger with this scenario, can you trust them to lift martial law, after they’ve completed the round-up, or will they use the pretense, that it’s not safe, yet? History tells us that after the citizens surrender their civil rights, chances are they ain’t getting them back.
“We (the founding fathers of our nation) hold these truths to be self-evident (these truths are universal and non-debatable), that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights (these rights are equal for everyone, because they have value in our Creator’s Eyes), that among these are Life (you have the right to live), Liberty (you have the right to freedom) and the pursuit of Happiness (you have the right to choose for yourself).
Even though we don’t all agree with each other about the Bible. The Declaration of Independence is broader than that and acknowledges that there is an expected gratitude and accountability to God. However, America needs to be warned: Since the right to attain life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is tied-in to our Creator, we can’t remove God from the equation. Otherwise, we won’t have a basis for our right to expect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in our children’s future!” Excerpt from A New Look at America’s Christian Heritage
“Being good is hard if you live under an authoritarian regime… Dictatorships elevate the nation and the leader as ultimate ends, while mere individuals have no inherent worth outside of their service to the state… Damir Marusic, an Atlantic Council senior fellow, recently wrote, ‘Putin is a wholly authentic Russian phenomenon, and the imperialist policy he’s pursuing in Ukraine is too.’ This is right, but only up to a point. We simply don’t know what individual Russians would choose, want—or become—if they had been socialized in a free, open democracy, rather than a dictatorship where fear is the air one breathes. Like everyone else, they are products of their environment. Authoritarianism corrupts society. Because punishment and reward are made into arbitrary instruments of the state, citizens have little incentive to pool resources, cooperate, or trust others. Survival is paramount, and survival requires putting one’s own interests above everything else, including traditional morality. In such a context, as the historian Timothy Snyder puts it, ‘life is nasty, brutish, and short; the pleasure of life is that it can be made nastier, more brutish, and shorter for others.’ This is the zero-sum mindset that transforms cruelty into virtue.
In short, authoritarianism twists the soul and distorts natural moral intuitions. In so doing, it renders its citizens—or, more precisely, its subjects—less morally culpable. To be fully morally culpable is to be free to choose between right and wrong. But that choice becomes much more difficult under conditions of dictatorship. Not everyone can be courageous and sacrifice life and livelihood to do the right thing.” Excerpt from Why the Russian People Go Along With Putin’s War
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán cut right to the chase. He said that Hungary had been “completely healed” of anything smacking of liberalism, and he was crystal clear about how to do it: Control the media. In Hungary, as Szelenyi explained in her TNR essay, this was accomplished first through the takeover of the state media and second through generous loans from the state bank to allow Orbán’s cronies to buy up most of the private media. “Have your own media,” Orbán told the conference. “It’s the only way to point out the insanity of the progressive left.” Oh, and this: “We have to take back the institutions in Washington and Brussels. We must find allies in one another and coordinate the movements of our troops.”
The military metaphor is telling, and overall, they couldn’t have been more straightforward with us. The American right, from Trump to CPAC Jefe Matt Schlapp on down the line, celebrates and seeks to emulate a racist, neofascist anti-democracy. They want to turn the United States into Hungary.
And swing voters, that small percentage of people in the middle who decide elections, live in their bubble, committed to the notions that they’re all corrupt anyway and that the Democrats are just as extreme to the left as Republicans are to the right. They’re concerned about inflation and baby formula, as well they should be, but they need to wake up and think about all this before it’s too late.
By the time those formula-starved babies are playing Little League, they’ll be living in what’s effectively a one-party state where contraception is illegal. Where gay couples have to travel to certain states to marry—if they’re allowed to marry at all. Where the local library won’t stock books on slavery. Where the rich are paying taxes at a lower rate than middle-class people and the federal government has no money (and perhaps, given the Supreme Court we have, no legal authority) to enforce its laws. And where the right-wing, anti-democracy media has more power than the mainstream media (I think we already live in that country). And where election results can be overturned if they came out “wrong.” Excerpt from American Conservatism Just Threw a Party for Hungarian Fascism
“The reason the MAGA republicans keep repeating the big lie, even though they know that the elections weren’t stolen, is because it’s a big joke to them—they do it to ‘own the libs‘ (mock the democrat voters who still believe in democracy). Ironically trump has ignited their ‘disgust for democracy’ reflex with his constant barrage of grievance rhetoric bombs.” By: B. Bondman
“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” By: Ayn Rand
“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.” By: George Washington (Farewell Address, September 17, 1796)
“The world has enough for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed.” By: Mahatma Gandhi
“Ignorance breeds fear. We fear those things we don’t understand. If we don’t put a lid on that fear and keep that fear in check, that fear in turn will breed hatred because we hate those things that frighten us. “If we don’t keep that hatred in check, that hatred in turn will breed destruction.” By: Daryl Davis
“Anger and intolerance are the twin enemies of correct understanding.” By: Mahatma Gandhi
In order to explain why we have systemic racism and a culture of ethics violations within our institutions, we need to understand that all systems in government rely on people to do their jobs in good faith. All it takes is for one key player to cheat, and the system fails. No system is self-moderated, no matter how much we audit and try to regulate it; it is up to the civil servant(s) to do his job to the best of his abilities. All the systemic problems we find are to be blamed on the people in power who are acting slick—not on the system. Blaming the culture is unconstitutional; an individual(s) in that system who is unwilling to support it, is literally breaking his oath of office. This is why a democracy can’t survive without a free press—to force transparency of the government—so that if it is discovered that a corrupt public official(s) is gaming the system, it can be brought to the citizens’ attention, so that the bad actor(s) can be impeached by the checks and balances in place.
What History Has Taught Us: In the 1930s, a similar phenomenon occurred in Germany, where a charismatic leader named Adolf Hitler rose to power by exploiting fear and division among the German people. He promised to restore national pride and greatness, but his true intentions were to undermine democratic institutions and establish a totalitarian regime. Similarly, our own populist president has exploited fear and division to gain power, refusing to accept the results of a fair election and claiming voter fraud.
The consequences of this incendiary rhetoric have been devastating. The immigrant population has gone into panic mode, as they are hunted down by cult followers and turned over to the border patrol. The situation has spiraled out of control, leading to rampant crime and tyranny. This is eerily reminiscent of the Kristallnacht, a wave of violent anti-Semitic pogroms that swept through Germany in 1938, marking the beginning of the end of Jewish life in Germany.
The Speaker of the House’s proposal to brand or embed Latinos with a microchip is a chilling reminder of the Nazi regime’s use of technology to monitor and control its citizens. During World War II, the Nazis used concentration camps, forced labor, and mass deportations to eliminate perceived enemies of the state.
Microchipping humans wields great promise, but does it pose greater risk?

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” By: Pastor Martin Niemöller
