Poem 1
Only little “omega” men
want to dominate women,
trying to prove
they’re the big “macho man”.
But when the “taliban-ditos”
came into town,
these tough guys
become more effeminate
than the females.
They lost control
of their emotional state,
so they justify their cowardice,
by bullying the weaker sex.
Poem 2
When grown men run away
and leave behind
their wives and children—
what do you call that?
“When the going gets tough,
the tough get going!”
When a state
becomes tyrannical
and campaigns
with repression—
where are the men
of valor who will defend
the family institution?
Citizens didn’t understand,
that when these refugee men
showed up at their borders—
without their dear mothers—
if you allowed them in,
that trouble would ensue.
Patriots have no obligation,
to pardon another nation’s
traitors—those cowards—
who forfeited their masculinity,
when they fled,
because they were too afraid,
to defend their sisters’ honor.

How women’s lives have changed in Afghanistan
Opinion: Taliban leaders enforce brutal restrictions against women, except for their own daughters
“All I could see around me were the fearful and scared faces of women and ugly faces of men who hate women, who do not like women to get educated, work and have freedom. Most devastating to me were the ones who looked happy and made fun of women. Instead of standing by our side, they stand with the Taliban and give them even more power. Afghan women sacrificed a lot for the little freedom they had. […] My sisters and I could not sleep all night, remembering the stories my mother used to tell us about the Taliban era and the way they treated women. I did not expect that we would be deprived of all our basic rights again and travel back to 20 years ago. That after 20 years of fighting for our rights and freedom, we should be hunting for burqas and hiding our identity. […] Then today, when I heard that the Taliban had reached Kabul, I felt I was going to be a slave. They can play with my life any way they want. I also worked as a teacher at an English-language education center. I cannot bear to think that I can no longer stand in front of the class, teaching them to sing their ABC’s. Every time I remember that my beautiful little girl students should stop their education and stay at their home, my tears fall.” Excerpt from An Afghan woman in Kabul: ‘Now I have to burn everything I achieved’
[Patriarchs, Autocrats, Theocrats] think and say these things because they lack courage. They need to have women behave in certain, narrowly proscribed ways or they can’t handle it. They lack the courage to accept women for who they are. And [he] wants the state to protect him from independent women.
Demanding that women act “in accordance with men’s expectations of femininity” is not strength, it’s simpering weakness. People with fortitude have no need or desire to try to control others. Only a weak person feels threatened by other people having rights. Weak men […] need to cover up their fear of independent women by creating stories […] to convince themselves that they’re right to fear and hate women.Telling yourself that women don’t have rights is cowardice. […] A strong man is a feminist. Excerpt from Misogyny is Cowardice: An Example
Commentary: If you let the devil have the upper hand, we will all become bondmen, and democracy will fail, so we have no choice but to make sure freedom prevails. Don’t believe the devil’s lies that you can have it both ways. You can’t support democracy and sell your capitalist soul to theocracy. It’s a trick to weaken your conviction, to destabilize your firm foundation, to make you overconfident that you won’t be affected by the slippery slope that leads to theocracy. If you support theocracy, you are undermining democracy—why is that so hard to understand? The reason communists, socialists, fascists, and Marxists embrace each other is because they don’t feel threatened by each other, so they give each other space to maintain their deception of “honor among thieves”. The only way to save humanity is for truth and democracy to win over deception and theocracy. As the saying goes,”Injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere,” and it’s coming to a theater near you. Just because I’m not averse to the inevitable final confrontation between “good versus evil” it doesn’t mean I won’t acknowledge that the world might burn if World War III escalates into a nuclear showdown. But that’s the choice freemen must make, because that’s what I’ve enlisted for.
“It’s inevitable, that the last war, will be theocracy (the devil) versus democracy (Israel), the US has to decide once and for all, which side it’s on. If you’re still on the fence about your allegiances, you’ll be the first (sitting duck) to be obliterated, because if you’re not with me, you’re obviously against me.” By: A. Freeman
“In order for a government to become a theocratic regime, the church must allow itself to be swallowed by the state. In order for a government to remain democratic, the state must be kept separated from the church—so that neither is tempted to swallow the other.” By: A. Freeman
“We must come to see that the end we seek is a society at peace with itself, a society that can live with its conscience.” By: Martin Luther King, Jr.
“The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose.” By: James Baldwin
I’ve come to believe that the most dangerous man in the world is the one who feels no remorse. The one who never apologizes and therefore seeks no forgiveness. Because in the end it is our emotions that make us weak, not our actions. By: Tahereh Mafi
“I would rather die standing than live on my knees.” By: Emilio Zapata
