I had an idea for a little poem,
That I wanted to write for you.
I was a little sleepy,
And it was a little fuzzy,
So I wrote it down,
To review it later, with you.
After I wrote it,
I had to rewrite it,
So that you could understand it, too.
After the second time,
I realized, that what I was writing,
Was not the same,
As what I was thinking, about you.
On the third try, I became confused,
And couldn’t remember,
What I was trying to convey,
In the first place, to you.
I guess you could call it a “strike out”,
Just like, I did with you.
Spanish Translation
Tuve una idea para una poema pequeña,
Que quería escribir para ti.
Tenía un poco de sueño,
Y mis pensamientos estaban borrosos,
Así que, lo escribí;
Y no podía recordar,
Lo que estaba tratando de decirte,
En el primer lugar.
Supongo que podrias decir que “me ponche”.
Al igual, como lo que hice contigo.

Commentary: One of the problems is that a lot of toxic relationship habits are baked into our culture. We worship romantic love—you know, that dizzying and irrational kind. Men and women are encouraged to objectify each other and to objectify their romantic relationships. These partners are often seen as achievements or prizes rather than someone to share mutual emotional support.
